My 2001 Tribute

I purchased a previously owned Tribute July,2005
Nine months later, April,2006, the engine died with only 45,000 miles on it.
My limited warranty had expired 2 months prior to the engine failure.
I find it deplorable that my dealer, Toms River Mazda, Toms River, N.J. and Mazda USA, Irvine Ca., would offer me no assistance, show no customer loyalty.
( I was told by my dealer to buy a used engine from the junk yard ! )
As a single woman, barely making ends meet, I now have a $12,000 loan to pay off for a vehicle that is un-operable.

Also would like to mention to fellow Tribute owners...
The NHTSA is investigating 2001-2003 Mazda Tributes for numerous engine fires !

Mazda dealers suck

I feel for you, there are hundreds of horror stories on the net about sh!ty Mazda dealers and stupid service departments. You do have a few options:

1. Take it to another dealer. Make sure the other dealer isn't owned by the same company the 1st one is. You may find different service.

2. Write 3 SNAIL MAIL letters to Mazda North America. 7755 Irvine Center Dr. Irvine, CA 92623. 1st Attn: Customer Serivce. 2nd Attn: James J. O'Sullivan President and CEO 3rd: Brian Colianni SVP, Sales and Marketing. Make sure at the bottom of your letter, you put CC: each of the other letters.

3. Try to sell it, and buy something more dependable. If Mazda doesn't clean up it's service department and improve quality, then they deserve to loose repeat buyers.

Dan, a question.
Do you happen to know the e-mail address and/or mailing address for Mazda Japan ?
Thanks, Valerie

Unfortunatley, Mazda Japan (Mazda Corporate, or MC) doesn't really pay that much attention to the US dealer situation. at any rate, try:
Hisakazu Imaki, President and CEO
Head Office
3-1 Shinchi
Fuchu-cho, Aki-gun, Hiroshima,
730-8670
JAPAN

Dear Dan, Thanks for your reply & comments.
I did contact Mazda North America in Irvine, even managed to get the (supposedly) V.P., on the phone.
He blatantly told me to get lost, didn't care.
I really loved my Tribute.
It was a pleasure to drive.
I would buy another in a heart beat, but Mazda shows no customer loyality, doesn't stand behind its products, so why should I purchase from them ?
I will be sending a letter to James J. O'Sullivan, for my own satisfaction.
Thanks again, Valerie
