Tri-Point Motorsports Prepared for Sebring and the 2007 SPEED Touring Car Season

CANOGA PARK, Calif. (March 12, 2007) - After a season long battle for the Manufacturers’ and Drivers’ 2006 SPEED World Challenge Touring Car Titles that netted hard fought second places in both categories, the Tri-Point Motorsports MAZDA6 powered race team will be trying for the top step of the podium in 2007.

Tri-Point hot shoe Jeff Altenburg of Ellicott City, Md. will be returning in his electric blue and white No. 72 MAZDA6, and will again be joined by road racing ace Randy Pobst of Gainesville, Ga. in the No. 73 Tri-Point entry for the full 2007 schedule.

Mazda Delivers Hydrogen Rotary Engine Vehicle to Japan Automobile Research Institute

HIROSHIMA, JAPAN--Mazda Motor Corporation today announced that it has delivered one dual-fueled RX-8 Hydrogen RE vehicle, which runs on either gasoline or hydrogen, to the Japan Automobile Research Institute (JARI)*1. The Mazda RX-8 Hydrogen RE has a rotary engine with a dual-fuel system that allows the driver to select either gasoline or hydrogen fuel with the flick of a switch.

JARI is working with the New Energy and Industrial Technology Development Organization (NEDO)*2 on the Establishment of Codes & Standards for a Hydrogen Economy Society project. The RX-8 Hydrogen RE will be used as part of its R&D activities to review the regulations regarding the safety of hydrogen vehicles, establish examination and evaluation techniques and create proposals for international standards. The hydrogen supply will mainly come from JARI's own hydrogen station at their facility in Tsukuba city.

B-K Motorsport Lola-Mazda Comes Out of Hiding

Wednesday, 07 March 2007 --- Last weekend B-K Motorsport had its first test laps with the new Lola B07/40 LMP2 car at a very cold and wet Snetterton. The car, which is powered by the brand new Mazda MZR-R four cylinder turbo engine, completed 26 laps in the hands of Ben Devlin. Apart from a few small problems, which are common when driving a new sportscar for the first time, the car ran very well during the day.

Immediately after the test the car was prepared for a long trip overseas and transported to the United States where it will run the Sebring 12 Hours next week. Driving for B-K Motorsports at Sebring will be Jamie Bach, Ben Devlin and Rafael Matos.

CX-7 crossover and MAZDA6 sedan score big in recent government safety tests

IRVINE, Calif.
- Proving that safe doesn’t always have to mean boring, Mazda North American Operations today announced that the 2007 CX-7 and 2007 MAZDA6 sedan are among the highest-rated vehicles in the latest safety tests conducted by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).

The CX-7 achieved five-star frontal and side crash ratings, and a four-star rollover resistance rating – the highest ratings awarded to any SUV. Similarly, the MAZDA6, with its standard side air bags and roof-mounted side air curtains, achieved five-star frontal crash ratings, four-star side impact crash ratings and a five-star rollover resistance rating – ratings that are superior to the 2007 Honda Accord sedan.

Mazda Hydrogen Vehicle Takes Part in Cold Weather Testing in Hokkaido, Japan

HIROSHIMA, Japan--
Mazda Motor Corporation is joining forces with the Hokkaido Regional Development Bureau (HRDB) to test the cold weather performance of its hydrogen cars. In response to a request from the HRDB, a Mazda RX-8 Hydrogen RE is being used for the tests, which are scheduled to run from February 19 to 23, 2007. This cold weather testing coincides with the Environment and Transport Symposium on Hydrogen Energy that is being held in Muroran city, Hokkaido Prefecture, on February 21. Participants in the symposium will have a chance to ride in the RX-8 Hydrogen RE and attend a briefing session. The HRDB is a division of Japan's Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport (MLIT).
