In March 2006, Mazda's domestic production, exports and overseas production exceeded the previous year's figures due to steady demand for the Premacy/Mazda5 and Roadster/MX-5 new models as well as the Atenza/Mazda6. In addition, for fiscal year 2005, Mazda's domestic production, domestic sales and exports exceeded the figures from the previous year due to healthy demand for its new models and commercial vehicles.

HIROSHIMA, Japan--The government authorities of the City of Hiroshima and Hiroshima Prefecture, situated in western Japan, have each had one dual-fueled RX-8 Hydrogen RE vehicle delivered from Mazda Motor Corporation. Leases for the rotary engine RX-8 Hydrogen RE cars commenced at a ceremony held today to mark the deliveries and was attended by local dignitaries. The RX-8 Hydrogen RE model features a dual-fuel system that allows the driver to select either gasoline or hydrogen fuel with the flick of a switch. |

FORD'S Chinese joint venture suspended production of the new Mazda 3 one month after it went on sale in China.
A spokesman from Chang'an Ford Motors Corp, the producer of Mazda 3, confirmed the suspension, but refused to identify the reason.
"We have actively negotiated with all the concerned parties and hope to resume the production as soon as possible," said He Miao, an official from Mazda Motors Corp Shanghai Consulting Co. |

Mazda Appoints Don Romano to Head Its Canadian Operations |

IRVINE, Calif. -- Mazda North American Operations (MNAO) today announced the appointment of Don Romano as President, Mazda Canada, Inc. (MCI), replacing Mike (Michel) Benchimol, who is no longer with the company.
Romano assumes responsibility for Mazda’s sales, marketing and customer service and parts operations in Canada, and reports to Jim O’Sullivan, president and CEO of MNAO.
“Canada is one of Mazda’s strongest markets worldwide, with growth so far this year of nearly 19 percent, and a 4.5 percent market share,” said O’Sullivan. “Don has demonstrated both strong leadership and superb intellectual capabilities in his previous positions here at MNAO, and I expect even greater success for Mazda Canada under his direction.” |

Mazda Marks Production of One Millionth Atenza With '23EX Brown Leather style' Special Edition in Japan
HIROSHIMA, Japan--To celebrate reaching the one million unit production milestone for the Atenza sedan (known as the Mazda6 in overseas markets), Mazda Motor Corporation has announced that a special commemorative model, the '23EX Brown Leather style' version Atenza, will be on sale from today at its Mazda and Mazda Anfini dealerships throughout Japan. The Hiroshima-based automaker has produced over one million units of the acclaimed Atenza to date. Job#1 was in February 2002. (Note: The global production figure was confirmed internally by Mazda Motor Corporation.)

The Internet-based Web Tune Factory enables customers to create their own customized vehicle models by selecting the type of engine, transmission, and exterior and interior colors, according to their preferences. Apr 12, 2006 — LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - Ford Motor Co. , General Motors Corp. and Mazda Motor Corp. are recalling almost 35,000 cars for a range of defects, U.S. safety regulators said on Wednesday.
Mazda is also recalling about 2,600 MX-5 Miatas from the 2006 model year because the driver-side front air bags are prone to dislodge a horn assembly from the steering wheel.
The regulatory agency said that problem, which is prone to happen at very cold temperatures, could injure drivers.
Mazda will replace the front air bags on the cars at risk for the problem, the NTSA said. |
