Mazda2 Set to Debut At This Year's Geneva Auto-Show
Submitted by Berny on Friday, February 16, 2007 - 15:08Mazda2

February 2007: The March Geneva Auto-Show will mark the debut of the 2008 Mazda2 - B-segment entry the public has been asking for. It is not sure if Mazda is going to bring the Mazda2 to the North American market yet.

The Mazda2 is designed with Mazda family cues and proportions, with the now traditional large headlamp assemblies that frame the corporate 5-sided grill. The current Mazda design of raised hoods, blends cleanly into the A-pillars, and Mazda's theme of prominent fenders, moves down to a side body line, which is a lot more rounded than current Mazda2 model, then flows over the sides of the car to the a mid-high rear taillamp section, which is placed slightly below very clean and compact rear window.

Mazda Demio Production in Japan Hits One Million Units
Submitted by Berny on Wednesday, October 4, 2006 - 15:03Mazda2

HIROSHIMA, Japan-- Mazda Motor Corporation has announced that total domestic production of the Mazda Demio (known as the Mazda2 in overseas markets) reached one million units at the end of September 2006. This milestone was achieved in the ten years and three months since production began in July 1996 at Ujina Plant No. 1 located near Mazda's headquarters in Hiroshima.

The Mazda Demio was launched onto the market in August 1996. The first generation Demio proved convenient for inner city driving due to its compact size, and the outstanding packaging optimized the use of the available interior space. With these attributes, the Demio established a brand-new standard for compact cars. In Japan, the Demio has enjoyed high acclaim and was named RJC Car of the Year 1996-1997. Sales have been favorable since its launch, and it achieved a record monthly sales figure of 14,250 units (in March 1998), far outstripping the original monthly target that had been set at 4,000 units.

Mazda 2 vs. Honda Fit
Submitted by mwqa on Thursday, May 11, 2006 - 20:46Mazda2

Hi out there! :)

Anyone know why I should wait a year or two (or more??) to by a Mazda 2, instead of buying a Honda Fit?

Seems to me (not seeing the car in the flesh), that it has better visibility. Maybe more solid?

Casual-Stylish 'M' Special Edition Mazda Demio on Sale
Submitted by Berny on Monday, December 19, 2005 - 11:51Mazda2

- 'Cool & cute' model influenced by Misaki Itoh, the celebrity actress/model -.

Mazda Motor Corporation announces the release of the Casual-Stylish 'M' special edition model Demio that was designed with input from Misaki Itoh, the popular actress/model who promotes the Demio (known as the Mazda2 overseas). This new model goes on sale today at Mazda, Mazda Anfini and Mazda Autozam dealerships throughout Japan.

The Casual-Stylish 'M' special edition Demio features the aeroparts that add a 'cool' element to the 'cool & cute' attraction for females, while keeping the cute factor of the 'Stardust Pink' Demio, the previously released special edition Demio that also incorporated ideas from Itoh. The base model comes with stylish aeroparts - front aero bumper, side and rear spoilers, rear roof spoiler - that are on the "Casual Aeroactive" grade that is popular with women. The Casual-Stylish 'M' takes it a step further with a large driver's seat armrest, an audio remote control switch on the steering wheel and lighted vanity mirrors for both seats, as more female-friendly additional equipment. A comfortable driving experience is given a boost with the addition of an advanced keyless entry and engine starter system, an AM/FM radio with CD player and a water-repelling function as standard equipment. A leather key case embossed with Ms. Itoh's signature comes with the vehicle as a special gift to customers.
