HIROSHIMA, Japan—Mazda Motor Corporation has announced the introduction of the partially remodeled Bongo van and truck, Bongo Brawny van and Titan Dash truck. All four models go on sale today at Mazda and Mazda Anfini dealerships throughout Japan. The Bongo van and Bongo truck are also available at Mazda Autozam dealerships.

Mazda Announces Organizational and Personnel Changes

Mazda Motor Corporation has announced the following organizational and personnel changes, effective August 1, 2007.

Changes in the area of Research and Development

Goals

-Mazda will accelerate development of its next generation powertrains based on Sustainable Zoom-Zoom, its long-term vision for technology development, and “Monotsukuri”, Mazda’s Manufacturing Innovation concept.
-In order to accomplish the goals of Mazda’s mid-term plan, the Mazda Advancement Plan, programs for existing products will be enhanced.
-By forming a department to improve work processes and reform the business culture in the Powertrain Development Div., Mazda will advance its efforts efficiently to achieve the desired quality levels in development of our next generation powertrains and programs for existing products.

Mazda Releases Upgraded Scrum Wagon and Scrum Van Micro-Minis

HIROSHIMA, Japan—Mazda Motor Corporation has upgraded the “Scrum Wagon” and “Scrum Van” micro-mini vehicle lineup for the Japanese market. Both vehicles are available at Mazda Autozam, Mazda, and Mazda Anfini dealers throughout Japan from today.

The upgraded Scrum Wagon comes with new interior fabric colors designed to match the characteristics of each model grade and front seats with thicker, contoured seat edges that enhance the vehicle’s level of quality and comfort for passengers. The top grade model, PZ Turbo, is now equipped with a redesigned chrome front grille and high intensity discharge headlights which give it a distinctive appearance.

Mazda Achieves Mixed Model Production of V6 and In-Line Four-Cylinder Engines

HIROSHIMA, Japan
—Mazda Motor Corporation has announced the introduction of mixed model production on the engine parts machining line at its engine plant located near Mazda’s headquarters in Hiroshima. The engine plant manufactures the new 3.7-liter V6 engine and the current in-line four-cylinder 1.8- to 2.3-liter MZR series gasoline engines. Production of V6 engines resumed in May, nearly four years since their manufacture ceased in August 2003. Mazda announced in North America today that the new V6 engine will be mounted in the 2008 CX-9 that is scheduled to go on sale this summer.

Mazda Marks 40 Million Units of Cumulative Vehicle Production in Japan

HIROSHIMA, Japan—Mazda Motor Corporation today celebrated reaching 40 million units of cumulative production in Japan with a commemorative ceremony at its Ujina Plant No.2 near Mazda’s headquarters in Hiroshima. Mazda’s Representative Director, Chairman of the Board, President and CEO, Hisakazu Imaki, together with executive officers and union representatives, looked on as an all-new Mazda2 rolled off the production line to mark the 40 millionth unit production milestone. This record was achieved in the 75 years and nine months since Mazda began production of three-wheeled trucks in October 1931.

The target sales volume for the all-new Demio is 5,000 units a month. Prices range from 1,125,000 to 1,580,000 yen (including tax).

Mazda Enhances Green Distribution System Between Hiroshima and the Tokai District

HIROSHIMA, Japan
—To improve the efficiency of collection and transport of vehicle parts, as part of its Green Distribution System between Hiroshima and the Tokai District (central Japan), Mazda Motor Corporation today (July 2, 2007) began using newly designed, exclusive cargo containers in its rail transport circuit. The new rail containers are 31 feet (9.4 meters) long, more than double the length of the containers used before, and allow for a significant improvement in transport efficiency. The Green Distribution System includes Mazda’s milk-run system*1, which uses a single truck to collect parts from multiple suppliers, and a modal shift*2 from truck to rail for service part shipments. Mazda expects these improvements will reduce energy requirements for logistics between the regions by 27 percent annually.
