Mazda Announces its Joint Venture Operation in China Has Commenced Engine Mass Production

NANJING, April 26, 2007—Mazda Motor Corporation has announced that the joint venture operation, Changan Ford Mazda Engine Co., Ltd. (CFME) in Nanjing has started mass production of the first BZ series engines to be built in China.

Smooth completion of the project, funded and managed by the joint venture established by Changan Automotive Group, Ford Motor Company and Mazda Motor Corporation, symbolizes the three partners’ mutual commitment and close cooperation. With the beginning of this mass production, CFME will continue to grow at a steady pace, with a production capacity of 350,000 units per year.

HIROSHIMA, Japan—Mazda Motor Corporation today announced that its global retail sales volume was over 1.3 million vehicles in fiscal year (FY) 2006. Mazda posted its best FY sales results in the US market since 1994 and also achieved its best performance in Europe since 1991. In addition, a total of ten overseas markets* achieved best-ever sales results in FY2006.

The Grand Prix of Houston will roar back to JAGFlo Speedway at Reliant Park this weekend, but the Grand Prix isn’t a single race. Rather, it’s a three-day weekend showcasing the best of American sports car and open wheel racing. Each race is unique, but they all share a common link: Mazda, including three races that are 100% Mazda.

The Cooper Tires Presents The Champ Car Atlantic Championship Powered by Mazda continues to be the premier open-wheel development series in North America. Now in its 34th season, the championship is noted for its long history of graduating its stars into Champ Car competition and has helped produce past Champ Car champions Paul Tracy, Jimmy Vasser, Bobby Rahal, Danny Sullivan, Michael Andretti and Jacques Villeneuve. Recent Champ Car competitors include Alex Tagliani, Andrew Ranger, Katherine Legge, and A.J. Allmendinger. 2006 Series champion Simon Pagenaud and runner-up Graham Rahal also join the Champ Car ranks this season. Competing in Swift 016.a chassis powered by a 2.3-liter Mazda-Cosworth MZR engine while riding on Cooper Tires, competitors will fight for the 12-race championship and the unique $2 million Champ Car series champion's bonus. Houston will be round three for the series as the drivers chase points leader Raphael Matos who has won the first two races.

Mazda Wins Three Best Car Awards at Thailand Car of the Year 2007 Awards

HIROSHIMA, Japan
—Mazda Motor Corporation has won three Best Car awards at the Thailand Car of the Year Awards 2007. The announcement was made during a ceremony held on April 3, 2007, at the Bangkok International Trade and Exhibition Centre (BITEC) in Bangkok. Mazda won awards in three categories. Mazda3 Sport Sedan won a best car award for the third consecutive year, this year in the Best Sedan Under 1,600cc category. Mazda MX-5 was named Best Roadster for the second year in a row, and with this award the MX-5 has won Best Roadster four times in the last five years. The Mazda BT-50 Pickup Truck won in the Best High-lifted Pickup 2,500cc category.

Mazda Announces Best-Ever March Sales for North America

- U.S. sales up 47.9 percent; Canada sales up 16.0 percent; Mexico sales up 182.5 percent-

IRVINE , Calif.
– Mazda North American Operations (MNAO), including the U.S., Canada and Mexico, today reported best-ever March sales of 47,206 vehicles, beating its previous March record of 45,892 set back in 1994. The U.S. celebrated its best March since 1994 with sales of 37,742 while Mazda Canada, Inc. reported its best-ever March with sales of 8,108 units. Not to be outdone by Mazda Motor de Mexico, which reported its best-ever month with sales of 1,356 units.

Mazda CEO Imaki speaks on fund-raising option

TOKYO, 04/03/2007 - The head of Mazda Motor Corp. said on Tuesday that issuing new shares was one of many options for raising funds to increase research and development as well as other investment spending.

"We are at a point where we have various options available to us to raise funds," Chief Executive Officer Hisakazu Imaki told a small group of reporters in Tokyo.

Asked if issuing shares was one such possibility, he said: "That is one option."

The Hiroshima-based automaker held one-third by Ford Motor Co. said last month it planned to boost its R&D spending by 30 percent to 500 billion yen ($4.2 billion) over the course of a four-year business plan ending in March 2011.

Mazda Motor Europe Takes Over Imports in Belgium and Luxemburg

Mazda Motor Europe announced that effective today it is taking the distribution of Mazda in Belgiumand Luxemburg into its own hands, under the name of Mazda Motor Belux. Mazda takes over the import of Beherman Auto, which has taken care of distribution since 1967. The appointment of the new Managing Director, Olivier Sermeus, was announced in December 2006. The new management team consists of, among others, Dominique Wouters, Sales Manager, Johan Costrop, Marketing Manager, Lionel Goyeau, Finance Manager and René Derboven, After Sales Manager.
