January 26, 2007 -- Mazda's domestic production in December 2006 was the best December result since 1992 and exports were at their highest level since 1991 for the month of December. In December 2006, Mazda achieved its highest ever overseas production volume of any December to date.
For the period January through December 2006, domestic production volume was at its highest level since 1994 and exports were their highest volumes since 1992. Overseas production reached an all-time record for a calendar year.

Mazda Motor Europe Sales Top 300,000 Units in 2006

- Mazda Motor Europe Achieves 300,000 unit sales for the first time in 15 years since 1991 -
HIROSHIMA, Japan
--Mazda Motor Europe G.m.b.H. (MME), a European subsidiary of the Mazda Motor Corporation, has announced that it sold 303,600 vehicles in calendar year (CY) 2006, which is 13 percent more than in CY 2005. This achievement represents the third highest CY volume in MME history, after 315,377 unit sales in 1990 and 317,640 in 1991. In CY 2006, major markets such as Germany and France and most of the European countries with Mazda operations sold significantly greater volumes compared to the previous year's results. Also, the UK, Russia, Spain and Portugal all achieved all-time sales records.

Ryuga (pronounced: ree-yoo-ga) builds on Mazda’s concept of flow. Nagare – Japanese for “flow” – debuted at the Los Angeles Auto Show in November and introduced the company’s new design future. Japanese for “gracious flow,” Ryuga will reflect a higher level of sophistication through the use of rich fabrics, engineered fits and hidden details. Mazda Canada Sets Annual Sales Record

--Sales exceed 81,000 for the first time in the Company’s history--

: Mazda Canada set its third consecutive annual sales record by retailing 81,007 vehicles in 2006, a 4% increase over the 77,867 vehicles sold in 2005. Mazda increased sales of both passenger cars and light trucks in 2006. Passenger car sales totalled 69,209 units, representing a 2% year-over-year increase. Light truck sales of 11,798 units represented a 14% increase over 2005.

“Breaking through the 80,000 sales barrier for the first time in our history is quite an accomplishment, especially in such a competitive market,” said Don Romano, President of Mazda Canada Inc. “This is a true testament to our ability to design products that connect with Canadian consumers and the strength of the Mazda brand,” he continued.

Mazda's production and sales results for November 2006 show that domestic production has exceeded that for the same month in the previous year for 13 consecutive months since November 2005. Export figures have also exceeded those from the same month in the previous year for 16 consecutive months since August 2005. November 2006 was the single best month for both domestic production and exports in the last ten years.

All Mazda Vehicles From Car-Carrying Vessel Cougar Ace to be Scrapped

IRVINE, Calif.--Mazda Motor Corporation today announced that all of the U.S.- and Canada-bound Mazda vehicles from the car-carrying vessel, Cougar Ace, which nearly capsized off the Aleutian Islands in late July, would be scrapped.
"After thorough testing by engineers from our American and Japanese R&D centers, we decided the most appropriate course of action – with our customers foremost in mind – was not to sell any of the 4,703 Mazdas aboard the ship," said Jim O'Sullivan, President and CEO of Mazda North American Operations, based in Irvine, Calif.
