Atlanta, Georgia - Michael Galati, of Olmsted, Ohio, captured his first SCCA Pro Racing SPEED World Challenge Touring Car pole in nine years on October 4th, 2007 following Round Nine qualifying, part of the 10th Anniversary Petit Le Mans weekend at Road Atlanta. )

On October 5th, Michael Galati, of Olmsted, Ohio, had to manage a wet track and navigate a wild final 10 laps to win the SCCA Pro Racing SPEED World Challenge Touring Car Round Nine race at Road Atlanta.

Altenburg in his MazdaSpeed/Tripoint Mazda6 Grabs Third SPEED Touring Car Pole of the Season at Mid-Ohio

LEXINGTON, Ohio (July 21, 2007) – Jeff Altenburg, of Ellicott City, Md., will start Sunday’s SCCA Pro Racing SPEED World Challenge Touring Car at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course Presented by Trenton Forging race from the pole position after a record-setting run in Saturday’s qualifying. Chip Herr, of Lititz, Pa., will start second.

Currently running second in the SCCA SPEED Touring Car Drivers’ Championship, Altenburg collected his third pole of 2007. Driving the No. 72 Mazdaspeed Motorsports Development Mazda 6, Altenburg clocked a 1:32.846 (87.551 mph) around the 13-turn, 2.258-mile Mid-Ohio road course, a new SCCA SPEED Touring Car qualifying lap record.

Tri-Point Motorsports is adding a third driver to their already potent lineup for the remainder of the ten-race 2007 SCCA SPEED World Challenge Touring Car series schedule. Roberto Santos will pilot the #74 Tri-Point Motorsports prepared Mazdaspeed Motorsport Development MAZDA6 in the remaining nine races of this year’s Touring Car schedule, and will make his debut for Tri-Point and the World Challenge series at the Miller Motorsports Park event the weekend of May 17-19.

Mazda6 Cruises to Win at Road Atlanta

BRASELTON, Ga. (Sept. 29, 2006) -- Local resident Randy Pobst gave his hometown fans exactly what they came to see -- a victory in the penultimate round of the SCCA SPEED World Challenge Touring Car Championship at Road Atlanta, as part of the Petit Le Mans. Chip Herr, of Lititz, Pa., and Eric Curran, of East Hampton, Mass., finished out the top three.

From the standing start, Herr got a great jump in his No. 17 Valley Audi/Clear Capital/STaSIS Engineering Audi A4 and took the lead heading into Turn One with Pobst right on his bumper. Piloting the No. 73 Mazdaspeed/Tri-Point Motorsports Mazda 6, Pobst only needed nine corners to grab the lead from Herr in Turn 10a. Heading into Turn 10a, Herr got a little wide and Pobst put his Mazda 6 underneath the Audi A4 and never looked back winning by 2.403-seconds, at a record average speed of 95.911 mph.

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. (April 2, 2006)
– After an auspicious start to the Round Two race, Randy Pobst, of Gainesville, Ga., made it a perfect sweep of the Honda Grand Prix of St. Petersburg weekend, averaging 64.305 mph and winning the SCCA Pro Racing SPEED World Challenge Touring car portion of the weekend by 0.938-sec. in his No. 73 Mazdaspeed/Tri-Point Motorsports Mazda 6. A pair of Acuras completed the podium as RealTime Racing teammates Peter Cunningham, of Grafton, Wis., and Pierre Kleinubing, of Coconut Creek, Fla., finished second and third, respectively.

(March 31, 2006) - SCCA Pro Racing SPEED World Challenge Touring Car driver Randy Pobst, of Gainesville, Ga., wasted little time reintroducing himself to the Honda Grand Prix of St. Petersburg, an event he won a year ago, turning in the day's fast time with a 1:24.034 (77.111 mph) and sweeping both SPEED Touring Car practice sessions Friday in his No. 73 Mazdaspeed/Tri-Point Motorsports Mazda 6. RealTime Racing Acuras took the next two spots as Pierre Kleinubing, of Coconut Creek, Fla., was second fastest on the day, and Peter Cunningham, of Grafton, Wis., was third.
