Thanks to its combination of Mazda’s trademark Zoom-Zoom performance and excellent environmental efficiency, the hydrogen rotary engine (Hydrogen RE) is one of the leading lights in Mazda's efforts to develop the power plant of the future.
To demonstrate the exceptional environmental performance of this engine that burns hydrogen to generate motive power and emits zero CO2, Mazda has been leasing the Mazda RX-8 Hydrogen RE to corporations and local government bodies since 2006. In particular, the RX-8 Hydrogen RE not only offers clean performance, it also maintains a driving feel characteristic of a vehicle powered by a conventional gasoline internal combustion engine. With its dual-fuel system, the RX-8 Hydrogen RE can be switched between hydrogen and gasoline fuel at the touch of a button, and although it is an alternative fuel vehicle, it offers all the other acclaimed attributes of the base model RX-8, including its seating capacity for four adults. |

Each race is unique, but they all share a common link: Mazda, including three races that are 100% Mazda.
The Cooper Tires Presents The Champ Car Atlantic Championship Powered by Mazda continues to be the premier open-wheel development series in North America. Now in its 34th season, the championship is noted for its long history of graduating its stars into Champ Car competition and has helped produce past Champ Car champions Paul Tracy, Jimmy Vasser, Bobby Rahal, Danny Sullivan, Michael Andretti and Jacques Villeneuve. Recent Champ Car competitors include Alex Tagliani, Andrew Ranger, Katherine Legge, and A.J. Allmendinger. 2006 Series champion Simon Pagenaud and runner-up Graham Rahal also join the Champ Car ranks this season. Competing in Swift 016.a chassis powered by a 2.3-liter Mazda-Cosworth MZR engine while riding on Cooper Tires, competitors will fight for the 12-race championship and the unique $2 million Champ Car series champion's bonus. As you might or might not know, we maintain a little Store here at RotaryNews.com. Recently we've been stocking up on Mazda Rotary Models, these are very hard to come by, and some are not even available in the US.
Starting off with a model of a 1970 Rotary Race car, a R100 ran in the 1970 FrancoChamps 24rhs race, and placed 5th, starting a long conquest of Mazda Rotary Racing domination; this is available in 1:43 scale. In 1979, the a First Generation RX-7 won the GTU class and classified fifth overall at the Daytona 24 hrs; this models is made by Eebro and is in 1:43 scale as well. Mazda entered a large number of entries into the famous Le Mans du 24 hrs in France. Our store carries 1:43 models from 1983 717c by Bizarre, 1984 Lola L616 by Arnage , and of course, the 1991 Over All winner #55 787b by Ixo.
